Yes I have Chas. In fact when I first came across it I didn’t have a close look and actually wasn’t entirely sure that the article I was reading was satire.
I do see the similarity. The Leunig isn’t really a cartoon in form at all and bears little resemblance to his normal work, if anything about Leunig can be described as ‘normal.’ I know quite a few of you are already familar with his work, but if I can find a link to his more standard work, I’ll post it.
Here’s a couple of links to more typical Leunig cartoons. The first might take a while to load but it’s worth it, even though reproduction could be a little more crisp.
Thanks, Wombat, these are great! I’m a big Leunig fan. One of my favorites is the one that shows a city scene at night, a dark-clad character running for cover. On a nearby building you see scrawled in white: A BIRD IN THE HAND IS WORTH TWO IN THE BUSH; on another: A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE; and on a third: DON’T COUNT YOUR CHICKENS BEFORE THEY’RE HATCHED. The caption is “The attack of the boring graffiti artist.”
