(Shock #1)- I recently told you all about how I purchased a Yamaha plastic Bass Recorder 
,and (shock #2) even provided a sound clip .
(mega shock #3) NOW I have just acquired a GREATBASS Recorder in ‘C’ (aiieee!!)!!!
The thing is a monster-around 4 feet plus long,fully assembled.
It’s made of wood (maple?Sycamore?)with brass key work,and is in need of a darned good clean,and maybe some re-padding,as the lowest notes are very weak sounding at present-but I should get the thing into playing shape soon.
I’ve already christened it ‘KING KUNG’,after it’s Swiss creators,so I guess I’m it’s ‘re-animator’(IT’S ALIVE Mmwuhaha!!! 
).
If I can’t get it to play,well it would always make a mighty fine standard lamp!!

I had want to make a great bass recorder before I started making whistles. That’s drove my madness to make a Bass whistle.
I had some trouble with pad sealing at first but I came up with an 1/8" closed cell foam that works wonder with giant keys. Now it has good sound all the way down to Low-Low-D.
Making keys for these things requires a total rethinking about key building. It’s like going from building rowboats to building ships.
