Shipping pipes from Germany to Belfast N. Ireland

I got my final invoice from Andreas Rogge on Monday 11 August 2008.

I have ordered C chanter, D fullset without chanter and bellows. Ready in October 2008 I was told.

He quoted 250.00 Euro for DHL shipping which I thought was a bit expensive.

I emailed him for a cheaper shipping service which he gave as 50.00 Euro with 500.00 Euro insured.

The last email I got from Rogge’s whorkshop Jen’s said “I’d suggest you organize the transport from your end.”

If I organize the shipping myself from Germany to Belfast what I need is the Weight (kg), Dimensions LxWxH (cm) of the parcel which also would cover the full price of the pipes to be insured.

Can anyone help me. You can PM me if you like.

Cheers

Ferg

Hi Fergus , In essence you are basically shipping a fullset from Germany. I’m guessing the contents of your package costs considerably more than 500 euros. Although 250 euros sounds very expensive , you know everything will be packaged , insured and if , god forbid anything goes wrong , then you know you are covered. As another possibility , it could be cheaper flying to Berlin and picking them up and transporting them as hand luggage ? Cheers Mei

Hi Fergus

Shipping prices have gone very high recently. 250.00 euro to ship and insure a full set sounds fairly “normal” for the current time. But I really wouldn’t trust a full set to any courier, these days - I’d recommend pickup, too.

best regards,

Bill

It might be worth it to fly over there and pick them up. You can fly from Belfast to Munich on Aer Lingus for as little as 5 pounds each way
