Sheet music

Does anyone know where I could find sheet music (or recordings) for a C-whistle. I recently bought a sindt C and its a treasure. I am not qualified to give a whistle review, but from a beginners perspective its a great whistle well worth the wait. It sounds sweet and is so forgiving of my mistakes that it makes me sound better than I really am.

I chose a C because I wanted to play a particular tune, now I’d really like to find more tunes for it. Recording suggestions would be appreciated too, as I’m trying to learn how to play by ear.

I have a Sindt C and it is a great Whistle. Just play all the tunes you know already and they will come out in C or F instead of D or G.

If you are going to use sheet music, use music in the key of D or G. Use the same finger sequence on your C whistle as on a D whistle. The music from your C whistle will come out in C.

If you have sheet music in the key of C just raise each note one note. Then it is in the key of D. You can take any key of whistle and play from sheet music in the key of D and it will come out in the key of the whistle your playing.

So I was trying to think of Pipers who play C sets and I thought I remembered reading that Peter Laban uses one so I had a look at his website and sure enough he does. You can buy a CD with him and Kitty Hayes (Concertina) right here.

Hi Ann,

I have a recordings of a Sindt C on my site http://www.whistleworkshop.co.uk/morris_t.htm and here http://www.whistleworkshop.co.uk/Lord_Inchiquin.htm and http://www.whistleworkshop.co.uk/young_catherine.htm I think there are some more in C…somewhere on the site

There is the sheet music there as well,

Please excuse the plug for my site.

Dave.

But it wouldn’t be sporting to with hold the information! And it’s not like answers to the question are easy to find. I didn’t even realize there were tunes in C there—shows you how carefully I read. I do cite your site a lot because it is a very nice one.

Thank you so much for your replies, now there are lots of tunes to start with. I didn’t know about the Whistle Workshop. Its a very nice site.

love your site, its very helpful for me as a beginner, thanks a lot for your work
