Hi, I’m trying to track down sheet music for “The World Turned Upside Down”. As far as I can tell, it is in the public domain, but everywhere I find it available, there is always a fee…

I ran a search at http://trillian.mit.edu/~jc/music/abc/FindTune.html, and I got five results, in three different keys.
You cpould also try this:

Or, you could try that . . .

Pretty piece! I believe this was the tune played when the British surrendered at Yorktown , ending the Revolutionary War ( seriously)
Does anyone know who played it, what kind of whistle they used, and where I can download an MP3 file of it? Thanks!
I’m thinking it was played on fifes and drums. If you ever visit the Yorktown battlefield ( near Williamsburg VA), they have more info. Wonderful historic area to visit.
I was teasing, Paul. You might recall that I’m a fifer. I’ve been playing that particular tune for nearly 30 years now. It’s an early American classic.
