I’m a huge fan of the Northern Irish singers mentioned in the notes and have many versions of these songs in my collection. This album will very soon be added. Christmas came early this year!!!

I was listening to this tonight, and thought it’s worth a reminder. What a great album! Very traditional singing, beautiful selection, wonderful voice. I can listen to this stuff the whole day.

I agree . . . probably not. I since looked at Helen’s biography and saw that she is from England/Wales. The Pat Roche to whom I was referring was from County Clare, later moved to Chicago and is the gentleman that the Murphy Roche Irish Music Club is named after. Is the Pat you are speaking of his daughter?
Not that anything I’ve asked really matters of course.

Yes, i assumed you were talking about the Pat Roche of Murphy Roche, since i’m a member. Do i know you, by the way? Do you go to the Kerry Piper sessions?
Sorry. We met briefly at the Piper about a year ago – I wouldn’t expect you to remember me. It was before I joined C&F. I was looking into joining Murphy Roche at the time. I live a bit away from the Piper and the Wednesday night sessions don’t work well with my schedule so I was never able to return – for the sessions that is – the Monday night burger special at the Piper has better hours.

I’m glad people are enjoying the album… fantastic! No, I’m not related to Pat Roche. My Grandad’s family were from Wexford, so I might be distantly related to any Wexford Roche/Roach/Roaches, but I don’t know about Co. Clare. Much as I’d love to have a Clare connection, being so enamoured of the place as I am…
