From the context Terry’s "refine our understanding’ was global in scope, refering to things that no-one understood as well as they might.
That’s fine by me, I’ll listen to what they have to say, if its not twaddle.
No. I didn’t say that. I said “some ‘experts’ on the internet”. But the same applied to my school music teacher - some things he said didn’t fit with what we learned in the physics class.
Maybe she rotated the body section to put the holes where she wants to have her fingers after having put the embouchure hole where she wants to have her mouth.
To say any more one has to get analytical. Distance between embouchure and left hand finger holes is much the same for all flutes compared with the different lengths of all those bones between finger tips on left hand, jaws and fingertips on right hand in different people. Different people will have to do different things. And when talking about left wrists people are never very clear about what they mean by straight. The way mine work there is a trade-off between straight up and down and straight side to side. We need an anatomist or some other expert thing to measure a lot of flute players and compare how they hold flutes. Different issue to what Terry is talking about. Luddites probably don’t like work study experts either.
Um, waiting for me? I wouldn’t, I still have a lot to do, preparations wise, before I get down to the nitty gritty. In the meantime, check out the list of potential investigations
to see which ones you wouldn’t like me to do first!
