Is anyone else doing this? http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/

We’ve been doing this since we got a computer. There are now teams at SETI. I’ve never been on a team. I’m wondering if there are enough of us who would be a team.

Although I have long given up hope of making contact, I’d still like to be in a position to say, “I told you so.” Plus, I laugh inside when our family members and friends say with all sincerity, “Have you made contact?”

Oooeeeeeeeeooooooooooooooooooooooooo (crackle) ooeeeeeeep

I did it for a while, til I realized it was bringing my old mac to a standstill, and burning that little graphic image into my display. We haven’t run it for at least 5 years, and I can still see the outline of the graph on my monitor.

And no, I didn’t make contact.

That, and I’d rather not spend the extra power to look for ET. If the little rat wants to talk to me, he can foot the bill!

Use to do this

I checked it out a few years ago. I gave up. It seems to me that if there is no intelligent design and everything happened by accident then the chances of sentient life forming anywhere is so small that it’s unlikely it could happen more than once.

What evidence is there that it ever formed at all?

I figured someone would make that observation.
Forget sentient life for a minute. Think about how complex some living creatures are and some of the relationships. No way any of that’s going to happen more than once. It’s a miracle it happened by accident at all.

so ya know my wife?

When they ask me if I know anyone who needs a death ray upside their head, I will be sure to think of you folks.
