I am visiting VN the latter part of August and want to find a session. My contact there says there are Irish pubs, but is not a session player so doesn’t know. Anyone have any ideas?

I will be in Vietnam for a few months, but alas, only from mid september. There is a pub called Sheridan’s in Ho Chi Minh, and they’re supposed to have live ‘celtic’ music on monday nights… but I doubt you can find anyone to play with. I don’t have much faith in finding anyone either. But the owner of Sheridan’s is an irishman who plays bodhran, maybe there’s potential

Great! I was there in december and spoke with the owner, in the pub, but the “celtic” band were away for vacations so didn’t see any of it. The pints are around 5$ in that pub, not cheap for the locals, it’s pretty much a westerner spot, like most bars in District 1. This bar would be a lovely place for a session though!
Yeah, ya might, MIGHT, just stand a chance of not being swarmed with tub thumpers the moment you take your pipes (or concertina, or flute, or fiddle, etc) out of the case.
