Seisun in Denver - Ron, anyone?

Hey all-

I’ll be in Denver for a bit over the Christmas season again this year (Visiting family), and I thought I might drop in to a local seisun if there is one around during that time.

My parents live in Centennial (New city, used to be unincorporated Littleton), about a mile from Southglenn mall, and just a couple miles from Park Meadows.

If there is a session, or a get together, or anything, I’d like to know where so I could meet some more C&F’ers!

What dates are you going to be in town? I plan to take some time off dsuring x-mas so it sounds great

Yes, let me know too. There’s a very friendly one at Fado’s next to Coors Field. They meet every Monday night at 7:00 pm.
The leader is our uilleann piper.

Dates-hmmm…it’s either going to be the weekend before x-mas or the weekend after. (I’ll either be arriving on or leaving on X-mas…kinda sux, but when you have a 10 person office, arranging vaca is a pain.)

Phiz, you live in Centennial? Whereabouts?

Aodhan

Say Phil,
I was thinking (I know I shouldn’t but every now and then an idea just sneaks up on me) there are about 10-12 of us in the Denver area, what would you think about a monthly session? We could rotate homes, maybe do a potluck thing and share tunes and toys.

Yeah, Aodhan, near Arapahoe and S. University. Across from the Goodson Rec Center.

Ron, that sounds like a good idea, but my wife was a little miffed that nobody else would join in on her songs. She’s not really a “session player”. So if we do it here well all have to sing! Keep me posted!

Phiz

Due to the fact that my voice sounds like gravel in a blender I have never really learned the words to songs as I tend to avoid doing things that incite people to throw large heavy objects at me. But if it will make Lauren happy and she wouldn’t mind sending the lyrics along to me of a few songs she likes doing I will be happy to learn them. My wife does enjoy singing and has a fair voice so I know she would join in.

Sounds good Ron, I’d love to hear you wife sing. Tell us what songs she knows. Blayne has a great voice, too.
Did you ever find out who that couple offering to have sessions and ,(people sleeping out in their backyard I think),were?I think they live in Highlands Ranch. They were posting back earlier in the summer.
TTFN, Phiz

You should be more aware…heh.

As soon as I know what dates I’ll be coming up, I’ll post a note here.

As a side note, I grew up in Denver, and desperately want to move back. My g/f wants to open an Irish Dance school of her own in a couple years as well.

Anyone know of good jobs (50k+ range) for Senior Analysts/fledgling management, IT division?

IT is pretty much dead in Denver right now. I was making over 80K last year doing software testing. After being out of work for 5 months I had to settle for an $11 an hour job doing tech support to put bread on the table.

Yeah, it isn’t doing much better here. I got lucky to get into a job at $27k a little over 3 years ago, and gotten raises to just under 50.

However, it sucks here in Phoenix. Even when it rained here for two days straight, high temps were still in the upper 80’s, and today looks to maybe break 100 again.
