I’d love to attend some kind of gathering where people play lots of Celtic music and I could play along on the pennywhistle. I live in Texas, but I’m happy to travel. Would you please recommend your favorite Celtic events and give me their full name or contact info so I can find out more about how to attend? Thanks, Laurel E.
Hands Down, the best Celtic “Gathering” is the World class Celtic Music Festival in Cape Breton Nova Scotia during the month of October. Contact the Chamber of Commerce there.
Get lost Bloomie…what d’ya think Bouddicca (I just can’t spell it) and her daughters were battling the Romans over in…oh…whatever year that was?
edit: it was 60-61 AD. Still some Celt rebels in the fray.
I’m curious about where one can find a good up-to-date list of these
events too. I’ve seen books for sale on the subject and looked up the ones I know about, but the info. isn’t correct. There must be a current
list on the Internet somewhere.

I’m a dedicated lurker, but I thought I might post what I found by chance.
There’s an Highland Games competition and Celtic Festival coming up in Albuquerque, NM, and they’re having workshops. I don’t know exactly what workshops, and I couldn’t begin to guess as I’ll be going for my first time next month.
http://www.scotmall.com/celticfestival/ This is their website, and they mention that they’ve got workshops, but not what kind. I guess you could e-mail the guy there if you feel like planning a trip to Albuquerque. They’re also going to have another one just north of Albuquerque (Rio Rancho) in June.
And to answer as a general posting of Highland games and Celtic festivals, I found this site - http://www.asgf.org/
