I recall a thread or two about the fine sound track from the Ken Burns documentary “Lewis & Clark: The Voyage of Discovery”. I have searched the forum (honest) and not gotten any hits on any of what I would consider to be the relevant ‘keywords.’
I am primarily interested in getting sheet music with notation for guitar (chords and such-like) for “Beech Spring” and “When Summer Ends”-- any, either, or all of the several versions of those two tunes that are on the soundtrack CD.
Would anyone have guitar/chord type notation for those tunes? I (perhaps incorrectly) think I’ve got the notes down for whistle, though I would welcome anyone elses’ take on that as well.
Have just started working with two guitar players and we have been able to cobble together good notation for the (as yet) limited number of tunes that seem to work for us. These two would be good to have as well.
I just happen to have copies of When Summer Ends, from Silly Wizard, that I transcribed a couple years ago, because I love the piece. The melody is written out with guitar chords. I haven’t looked for the other song, yet, but it just might be from a CD by Peter Ostrushko. I’ll have to look that one up.
I could be wrong, but I think that Beech Spring is a moderately common hymntune (Sacred Harp type, but appearing in modern hymnals, as well). May not be that difficult to find the chords in a hymnal that is arranged for guitar.
