Please help! Am having a very hard time trying to find a piper for our wedding on 20th September this year. The main problem is that it is in Wales, near Cardigan, which seems to be 100’s of miles from the nearest piper. My partner is half Irish and he loves the Uillean pipes, so I thought I would try and find out how much it costs to get someone but can not find anyone! Does anyone know anyone near there? Or are there any students of the pipes that need the experience and some money so would travel?
One of the people I contacted said this website was the best to talk to the piping community. I realise there are lots of other pipes, indeed it would be easy to get a bagpiper, but we would rather have a CD of the real thing if an actual piper is not possible.
Ideally we would like someone who can pipe the guests and then the bridal party into the church and then back out again, it’s about an hour and a half’s work. From around 1.30 - 3 pm.
Any suggestions gratefully recieved.
Many thanks, Seren Clements
Alan Moller in is North Wales & wedding is in South Wales. They are connected by roads of varying quality through mountains and possibly in very Welsh weather
This is better suited to someone in the South possibly one the pipers from Bristol or Bath area eg Alan Burton or Steve Turner both of whom are members of this forum and can be PM’d
Hi there , I live in Wales and I had my wedding blessed last September and I had a piper and bouzouki player to play at the church and at the reception later. I think you can only book them as a pair. They were awesome, Ben Walker was the piper and he comes on this site. Here is their e-mail address :
If they are booked let me know and I’ll have an ask around. I’m only a beginner so unless you want Raglan Road , Song of the Chanter and anything else from H.J.Clarke’s learn to play the pipes you’ve had it from me !!
