Screengrab a still from windows media player anybody. I use paint shop pro but get weird results. Used to know how to do this. Aaaaargh

No I meant using edit import within paintshop pro. But I have just tried Print Screen then paste into a blank paint shop pro with the same weird results.
Also tried pasting into microsoft paint.
The problem is roughly when the paint or paintshop pro window is moved the grabbed image moves independently.
Editing also has strange results.

Seemed to work okay, though as you can see I captured a bit of the forum behind it. You are using the capture function, I assume?

Yes I am using the capture function. Is that a still from a video that you captured? Yes I use file, import, capture, with the area setting. Tried other settings with same result.

I think the problem may be the version of Media Player that you are using. I can do it okay on PC#1 (W2K) that has PSP7 and Media Player 9 but it will not work on PC#2 (WXP) with PSP7 & Media Player 10. On PC#1 I had success both with the [Print Scrn-Sysrq] key:Paste as new image and with PSP’s capture function. Media Player 10 must use some sort of video overlay (like many software DVD players do) to prevent copying. :roll: What a PITA!

The annoying thing is I believe I found a way to do it some time ago. But then I may have had different versions then.

Try turning off hardware acceleration on your graphic card. Right-click on a blank spot on your desktop and select “Properties.” Click on the “Settings” tabs and then click the “Advanced” button. Find where to turn off acceleration – in my card it’s under the “Troubleshoot” tab. Then do your capture. Turn back on graphics acceleration when you’re done with your capture.

You should just be able to hit ALT-Printscreen and copy the currently active window to the clipboard. Open a new document in any paint program and Ctrl-V. All done.

I agree - should be able to but with the graphics card accelerator on it doesn’t work.
