Scoiltrad?

Hey all-

Been playing flute for a little over a year, averaging about 2 hours practice a week. (I know, practice more, but I have a 60 work week most weeks.) I do very well on the whistle, however.

My flute is a M&E R/R poly keyless. I can play a tune fine, but some problems with embouchure/breath, mostly due to the fact I pick up the whistle instead of the flute when I have 10 minutes.

I have Grey’s book and have started through that, and am thinking of taking a Scoiltrad lesson or two for the flute. What course would everyone recommend? Beginner, Intermediate, ornamentation, what?

I’ve been upping my practice on the flute by quite a bit lately (Mostly long tones and scales/arpeggios/rolls), and I want to be able to start adding ornamentation in, and just generally get better with tone, etc.

Thanks for the opinions, all!

I didn’t start with a Beginner’s lesson, but I feel I could have probably gotten more out of the first couple of lessons if I had.

For whatever that’s worth…

Beginner lesson. It’ll be worth it, don’t worry, Conal is a great teacher.

I’m taking the Beginner’s course… I plan on taking as many courses/classes that Conal offers.

YMMV.
