San Jose, CA Sessions?

Hey Everyone!

I’ve got a friend who has a whole family of musicians interested in checking out the Irtrad scene in San Jose…I’d like to know too since its my home town and I’d like to find a session to drop into the next time I visit.

So what’s the latest regarding sessions? When, where, etc, and if the session/pub/etc is kid-friendly? My friend plays flute, and she has two daughters, aged 10 and 12, playing violin and harp. I think she and her husband dabble in tin whistle and bodhran.

Thanks!

Kev

The only thing resembling a session in San Jose is ostensibly a slow player group here somewhere. Since I can’t make it on Fridays, I haven’t really gotten in touch with them, but they can be reached through http://www.slowplayers.org as far as I know. With the dotcom bust, I’m not even sure they still exist…so many people have moved away.

There’s a Thursday night “thing” at the King’s Head in Campbell, sorta like a session, but no outsiders are allowed to play. You can just come in and eat dinner and listen. With the crowd noise, sometimes it’s hard to hear the music, though.

When my shift rotates in January I plan to make the trip each Monday night to San Francisco to a session up there.
