Saint Nicholas' Day

Happy St. Nicholas’ Day, y’all!

which is tomorrow, in europe anyway.

Isn’t it on December 6th?

One of my fondest memories was generated when I was in college in Germany for a semester. the term had ended and I was wandering around Europe via a Eurail pass. I ended up being in Lucerne on the 6th and saw all of the local parishes field contingents for the St. Nicholas procession. It was very cool

Yeah, tonight is the eve, and with the time zone differences, among folks on the board, I figured this was the time to post.

ahh…one of the prettiest citys in CH.

good thinking

I come from a very strong German background, and we always celebrated St. Nicholas day. I’ve passed the tradtion on to my children.

Looks like the snow’s following St. Nick.

The weather men are predicting winter weather to blow in soon, here.

Winter’s already hit the great Inland Northwest. We have 6 inches of snow in our yard in town, and the high today is supposed to be 18F (-7C), with a low of 6F (-14C).

I’m off to work in a cinderblock building with the heat set at 64F, wearing pantyhose under my jeans and a long sleeved top with a heavy sweater over it. The only halfway warm place at work is our breakroom/lunchroom, where the store’s sick macaw (aka parrot) is being kept.

Indeed.
Gimmelwald and Murren are my faves though

Ha. As a kid we always went to Mürren for skiing.

hey! snow! New York has some of that!

Here, have some more. We’ve lots!
