There was a nice passage of Uilleann pipes during one of the Russian ice dance routines in the Olympics today. Nice sounding chanter work! Nice skating too.
I was suprised to hear that too. What was the tune? It was a classical piece, but I can’t remember. Somebody needed to smack the commentator, Dick Button. Every time he’d start sniping at music choices or artistic merit I’d think, someone pressed the “Dick” Button again. It’s bad enough to be perpetually angry about your name, but to take it out on everyone else…
Mr. Button is a frustrated old fart, I really tire of his negative commentary. Scott Hamilton is a little easier to bear, though not much, but at least he tends to be positive most of the time. Retired Pro Skaters, sheesh, what nit-picky people they can be. 
Yeah Joe, we have something in common with those ice skaters…like us, they’re all concerned about their blades. I use to sharpen skate blades at the ice rink, and then I got into sharpening cane blades. End up with the same nit-picky attitude with either. I just got a double dose, that’s why I’m so cranky. I don’t know how you do it.

Thanks for the… ummm… unreality check guys. I get so mad, MAD I tell ya’ and that Dick fella really pushes all of my Buttons.

My wife is correcting me again. She claims the ice dancers were Lithuanian. I don’t recall. Shame on me! I have to admit that I was a bit distracted by her skimpy outfit. 
Classical? The Pipes? The likely suspects are Mssrs Davey & O’Flynn, shurely.
Marc - Pay no attention to the “dick” button. Just turn the sound off on the TV and sit and play your pipes instead. : ) That couple from Detroit scored the Silver. Nice! You Motown guys must be proud.
I've about had my fill of Mr. Buttons... can we start a thread featuring photoshopped photos of how we would like Mr. Buttons to meet his demise?... maybe a skate boot in the ol' colon?
You gotta admire a guy like Dick Button over the decades - seems like centuries.
Paid all this time for stuff like “ohhhh, she fell…that’ll be a deduction for sure” or “oh no, she only did a double salchow - all week in practice, she had a triple in her routine…she must not have felt that she could get through the entire rotation”.
I’m Trying to learn “The Coolin” from the Seattle tionol. Perhaps Mr Button would like to hear my 2nd octave C.
Maybe a bass regulator reed in Mr. Buttons fundament would go nicely!
I’d like to see him attempt a triple lux, followed by a triple and a double toe loop… sheesh, they way the man cuts some of them gals down you would think he’s done their routines a gazillion times. When Dick was skating, those routines did not exist. He did, however, draw pretty numbers in the ice with his skates.
He also pioneered the “sit-spin”. So my wish, is that he would sit and spin.
