Hi, I’ll be visiting London early September and was wondering if anyone knows if there is a rudall rose or a boosey to be seen (looked at) or even tried out in London? Thanks! Shane
Not museum-wise. Go to the Horniman Museum anyway, though! I can’t speak as to players who might be willing to let you try their antique flutes. Of course, Robert Bigio has a few Rudalls - you could try contacting him. Goretti Anglim has a few Grinters and at least one R&R… Find her at the session at the Nightingale in Wanstead on Wednesdays nights. They’re both on Facebook…
I know it won’t be feasible, but if you could get to North Wales you’d be very welcome to try mine. I have a Boosey Pratten now as well as Rudalls. ![]()
Just Flutes have a Siccama and a Peter Worrell Rudall Carte model for interesting simple system flutes listed on their website.
I was thinking the same - you’d be very welcome to try mine - I even have at least one Rudall that’s going spare, plus some others - but I’m in Ross-on-Wye, about the same distance from London as Jem is, I think. Same sort of direction …
Ben is about 70 miles nearer London (c125 miles) than I am (c195 miles) and nearly due west whereas I am north-west, and we’re almost 100 miles apart… ![]()
Seems like Hobgoblin Music, London may have an eight key RR&C in stock. Best ring first:

Yeah, well … give or take … ![]()
You guys rock, thanks a lot for the answers. But I’m stuck in London centre. Was just wondering if there were, like, Rudall/Boosey flute libraries where I could hire one or go in and try one for an hour! Hehe. I’ll check out the one in hobgloblin music certainly.
