Thanks for all those clips!! I dont get to hear much as trying to get pipe records up here is like trying to get blood from a stone. However, i have heard Alain Froment’s pipes several times now and i really like the sound. Very mellow.Does he have a website?
I’ve heard several musicians comment unfavorably on Dicky Deegan’s piping. However, I love it, and listen to his two recordings frequently. Sure, it is very technical, and seems to be “designed to show off” sometimes, but something about it I really like.
My opinion. Thanks for the clips’ postings. Oh, and that Deegan clip (I think) is played on a C# set.

Tony…did your browser freeze opening the page or when you pressed the play button? Try up-grading your computer. (I added the links in the above)
Lorenzo,
Why should I be forced to upgrade my computer?
To answer your question, originally when I clicked on this topic my computer would lock up. I changed my plug-in… at the same time you edited your post. Now, I don’t know if the problem was the file you embedded or my plug-in settings.
Just a simple request: link the files in a way they don’t auto load when viewing the page. No one (even w/ DSL) wants to wait for multiple sound files to load before viewing the page.
I hope you’re not offended by my request, just trying to keep things simple.
Thanks for your thoughful suggestion Tony. We’re thinking along the same lines..to make it a simpler, quicker, easier approch.
I first noticed the burdon on the system while visiting the site from someone elses computer…so I immediately reduced the number of clips to one but I got so many positive requests by email that I decided to restore the Rowsome clip.
The simplest systems, with a good connection, should have no problem with one small-medium size mp3 clip. The beauty and advantage of having it already at your fingertips, right here, is many, esp for those who would never otherwise bother to go to the touble to research the link for the hidden treasure, which takes a lot of extra time and leaves you right where you were before…waiting a few seconds for one to load. Once loaded, the page will open immediately unless you go for days before revisiting, just like your large photos in the other thread. In the future I intend to keep it to one, as a matter of courtesy. Thanks again!

Picture files load into my browser rather quickly and I still have control of it’s functions (like switching windows) during the load. Embedded sound files need to load an external plug-in first. All operations are halted until the plug-in has finished loading. After that, the sound files usually load slowly regardless of where they are hosted.
The embedded Rowsome wav file is adversely my browser right now.
Will it play listing it this way?? http://www.esatclear.ie/~rowsome/limestone.wav
Works for me! I actually like it better through Windows Media Player, loading time’s about the same though, or more, maybe not as handy. Sorry about your browser! Probably just an isolated case.
BTW pictures can be posted that way too which would probably be best for larger files, saving people the auto load waiting time, which in some cases is substantial, first time around, and esp when more than one pic is on the same page.
