can someone explain me the difference in playability for the round vs modern cut embouchure holes.
I currently play a poly 3 piece dixon which has a round hole and I am saving up for my first wooden flute.
Cannot make my mind up whether I want a round, oval or modern cut embouchure hole.
I have read, that modern cut embouchure holes are very easy to play and they were “invented” for those boehm flutists who wanted to switch between simple flute and boehm style flute.
Would like more information on this so I can later on make a better choice.
Also, does the style of cut embouchure matter for sound???

when I was in the process of ordering my first wooden flute a few weeks ago, I posted a similar question - maybe you’d like to have a look at the thread?
I couldn’t decide between the classical oval and the modern boxed oval, as I am one of those Boehm-players and have already found out that the round embouchure is not my cup of tea.
The shape of the embouchure hole does make a difference in sound - George Ormiston (I ordered one of his flutes - will have to wait until December…) described the sound of the boxed oval as ‘round’ compared to the ‘more defined, darker’ sound of the classical oval - don’t know if that helps…
