hello folks, was wondering if anyone out there had a ross canister system they wouldnae mind selling/ swapping/ giving away?
i have been experimenting with various canisters, tubes, valves etc. and have come to the conclusion ross is perhaps the most suitable for my needs so any help much appreciated.
p.s. i could go straight to Ross but they charge around £60- a tad much for a wee plastic octopus type thing
ta muchly folks
Kings Taxes- might suggest that you try to pick up an older Ross system. I have one and wouldn’t part with it. I attended a recent pipe seminar and there was a discussion on the “new” Ross system and I didn’t pay too much attention to the discussion; however, one of the compaints was that the “new” system uses a 90 degree elbow, I think on the hose that goes to the chanter and that is turning out to be a problem. It was mentioned that the elbow has a negative effect on the sound, if I recall correctly. I wish I had paid more attention to the discussion, but at the time only noted the compaint regarding the elbow from several persons. There may be some members in our band who may have switched out their Ross System, I’ll ask around and see. Don.
thanks Don. yeah, old Ross canister is the only one i know and from what i can tell is the best type of canister system on the go. I never use the chanter hose though, any kind of chanter hose seems to effect sound too much. keeping my drones water free is my main concern, Scottish winters are not conducive to bagpipe stability! happy piping over there in Utah!
