Once upon a time, a (long-lost) friend had a tape of sea shanties, and there was a delicious version of “Roll the Old Chariot” on it. We nearly wore the tape out. 
I’ve had an eye out lately, and I’d love to find a copy. I probably won’t find that one (don’t even know who the group was), but a nice one would suffice wonderfully.
I’ve listened to quite a few clips online, but I can’t find one that I even remotely like. 
The one I remember was acapello (sp?), with lots of splendid harmony going on in the background, and it was quite powerful, sung with stirring gusto, but rather slow and almost stately. All the ones I’ve heard recently are, well, too “bouncy”, for lack of a better term, and one was even rather silly.
Can anyone suggest a version? I miss this song terribly.
