OK, here’s the next installment in our retrospective on flute tone and how to get it. From Rockstro, at the other end of the “golden era of conical flute” from Nicholson. A lot in common, but some significant differences. Perhaps of most interest, Rockstro gives us an experiment we can do to determine how to get the best tone out of our flutes. Now, we may not agree with him on what constitutes best tone, but his experiment at least lets us compare what he thinks to what we think, and that’s got to be a step forward.
