Just when you thought it was safe to go back into Mack’s garage…
OK, guys, I’ve managed to lose both of your e-mail addresses, so I guess it’s time to go public with our plans.
For those of you who aren’t Mack or Brian, I’m talking about Rocky Mountain Whistlers’ Session II. It’s coming, and it’s going to be great if we can all manage to hook up in the same place at the same time! I assume we’ll be meeting at Mack’s house again, and I assume anyone in range is invited.
(I also assume I won’t be camping out on Mack’s lawn this time around, given the time of year and all…)
The weekend of November 17th is looking like my best bet. Thanksgiving weekend is right out. The other weekends I can possibly work with.
Much playing, perhaps a bit more whistle building instruction, playing, solving the world’s problems, playing, Mrs. Hoover’s great food (??? Hee hee), and perhaps some playing in there somewhere.
So, let the discussion begin. Those of you from the region, get there! Those of you not from the region, well, this is a great opportunity to shore up our sagging airline industry. We had such a great time last summer with only a few of us…and I hear Mack has recently aquired a new vaccuum/uillian pipe!
I can’t wait!!!
Tom

Well, as I staggered in the door at about 4 AM from my session last night, I found a letter waiting for me from Ireland! It seems our bodhrán player from Co. Cork will be visiting friends in the Grand Junction area sometime in the end of November.
As for me, the weekend of December 1 and 2 looks the best. The weekend before Thanksgiving is bad for me, as I’ve got a bunch of sessions/concerts here in Salt Lake.
I hope to be bringing at least one, if not two musicians with me too, so it’ll be a mighty session to be sure!
Bri~
AAAAaaaerrrgh!!! I thought we were talking November! I just yesterday made a commitment to play at a charity fundraiser up in Worland the weekend of the 1st! Darn, darn, DARN!!! Time to vent my rage with lots of exclamation marks!!!
Man, this gets me down–I was REALLY looking forward to seeing you guys again (and I’m desperately needing some one-on-one bodhran help)…as well as perhaps meeting some of the C&Fers who missed last summer. Any solutions? I guess if this is the weekend it’s to be, I’m out of luck. Of all the crummy timing. $*#@**@#$!!!
Tom
Tom, if you come the 17th you will get special and deferential treatment and forgiveness for all: (exclamation marks!!! $*#@**@#$!!!)
And I’ll go to church with you Sunday morning! Maybe we can lure Robert R. over later. And a bunch of other locals.
Be of good cheer…and be here!!!
Mack (who can stand two sessions per month)
PS: and there is the possibility of reasoning with Brian
Ha!
You know, I think that was my first ever virtual temper tantrum. My mom will be so proud.
Anyway, once I quit stomping around and throwing things, I came to the same conclusion. How about it, Brian (and others)? Could we get together earlier in the month when I could be there, and again later when your Irish friend is around?
With hope renewed–
Tom
Don’t try to change my mind. There will be sessions at Hoovers’ both dates.
mack
Man!
I swear it figures! Just as I was all ready to make it out to the next best Rocky Mountain Session, I’m gonna have to fink out at the last minute!
I’ve been hit with a deluge of bills, and unexpected expenses that will curtail me from coming out this November.
Tom, you’ll have to play twice as loud for me OK?!
Perhaps next spring?! That will give me a little time to recover from Christmas, and birthdays and such…
Sorry guys!
Bri~
You guys could all come to Denver for the Chieftains Show in Jan.
Hi, Kids.
Ron, so, when is this Chieftains show, and how much does it cost? I’m interested!
Brian, spring is good. I’m actually planning on perhaps a good road trip out your way on spring break…
Mack, looks like it’s you and me on the 17th? I’ll keep you posted (much wierd medical stuff going on at the moment, so my schedule is a bit liquid right now. It’s no fun having to plan around doctors).
Take care, guys; we shall overcome someday…
Tom
Tom,
The show is Jan. 20th a sunday. Tickets go on sale Dec. 3rd. No news yet on the ticket prices but I am trying to get some info on it.
Brian is planning on comming out for it and I spoke to David Migoya and he will be attending, should be alot of fun.
Ron
Hey Brian, we’ll miss you greatly, but hope to see you at the January concert.
Tom, still come the 17th if at all possible. Anyone else that can be here, too.
Ron, count me in when you get the tickets!
Mack
Will do Mack, just let me know how many
Put me down for two, Ron–whatever it costs, it’s worth it to see the Chieftains live. I’ll donate an internal organ if necessary. Mack, still no news on the 17th. Sorry to keep you hanging. I’ll let you know as soon as I find out what’s going on.
Tom
I don’t think an internal organ will be needed Tom, at least not yet. My friend at ticketmaster is suppose to have some info today for me on the ticket prices, I have to stop in and see him this afternoon. As soon as I get the info I’ll post it.
Last year if I remember right the tickets were $35. Shouldn’t be to much higher this year.
Ron, Just one, unless you take whistles.
Mac (the Scot)
Perhaps if we all whine enough Dale will tell us how he managed to get an interview with Paddy Maloney and we could do a follow up interview with him and perhaps one with Matt Malloy for the flute site. So Dale, how do we do it? Who do we bribe?
Dale, I agree. A sacrifice for the sake of the Chiff and Fipple, strictly in the interests of journalistic inquiry, of course; no personal motives involved.
Tom (An Organizationally Challenged Scottish American)
Okay here’s what I found out so far.
Tickets are going to be about $50 for front row seats plus the ticketmaster service charge. Tickets go on sale Dec 3 at 10:00 am.
Ticketmaster doesn’t take money orders or checks, cash or credit cards only, so you guys can either get the tickets online yourselves with a credit card, or go to a local ticketmaster and get tickets or mail me a money order and I will get tickets for whoever wants to do it that way. If you want to me to get the tickets I will need to have the money orders by Friday the 30th. Since I am unemployed right now I can’t afford to get the tickets first and get the payment when you come.
Let me know how you want to do it and if you want me to get them I will e-mail you my mailing address.
Ron
Hey, guys.
Mack, I’ve (momentarily) given up on doctors, so I should be down next weekend. Clear me a spot on the couch? I look forward to seeing you!!! Ron, any chance you can make it?
And Ron, what is the date of the Chieftains concert? It’s a bit difficult for me to get days off from work, but I’m planning to find a way.
Tom
Tom the couch is reserved. Or the guest room if you prefer. I’ll be rounding up as many of the locals as possible for Saturday afternoon sessions. The blue grass sessions are that night, so we might lose some. Sunday an open Book.
Ya’ll come…
Mack
