Very sad news. Not only did he start a whole new jazz genre: the organ/guitar combo, but he’s largely responsible, directly or indirectly, for the popularity of organ in 60s rock.
How times have changed. When was the last ‘new genre’ in jazz? When did a seriously good contemporary jazz musician last influence a whole generation of rock bands?
