Andre Norton, passes at the age of 93…
She was my first introduction to the world of the sci fi/fantasy genre. May her works live ever on!

This is very sad news indeed. I was a great fan of her work, and I am sorry to hear she is gone.
Like you, she was one of my first intros to sci-fi.
She will be missed.

The first book of hers I read was “Moon of Three Rings.”
I’d better tell my husband to be prepared for a run on her books.
Oh my! I remember scouring the local library for her books when I was a pre-teen many years ago. She was my doorway into a lifetime of reading.
I’ll miss her, too. My intro to sf/fantasy was Eleanor Cameron when I was in grade school, but that was kid stuff. A couple of years later I discovered Norton, and --wow. I remember the first of her novels I read: Huon of the Horn. She opened a door to wonders for many of us. ![]()
Sad news indeed.
I still remember when my school chum Jim 0’Neil who sat behind me in class in the eighth grade handed me a book titled ‘The Time Traders’ and said “I think you might like this.” Boy was he right! I must have read most of her novels over the years and have been transported to many strange yet ‘real’ worlds.
A long and prolific life. She will still be missed by many.
Definately sad news.
I am another that got into science fiction through Andre Norton. - Beast Master was the first of many. Hopefully more generations of readers will enjoy her works.
Here’s tae her!!!

At age 12, the first book I ever took out of a public library on my own card was a book called Star Man’s Son, later retitield Daybreak.
Andre Norton has been a friend I never met for the last 46 years. Countless authors got their start from her. She will live in her books for many more to come.
May she rest in well deserved peace.
“Moon of Three Rings” was my first Norton tale. I must have read it in 9th grade, and it’s remained a favorite over the &# years since then.
We’ll miss you, Ms. Norton! Rest in peace.

I guess I’ve a dozen or so of her novels, but the one that first made a strong impression on me was Star Rangers–a very odd little story.
I’d swear I read a serialized novel of hers in Fantasy and Science Fiction back in the '60s, but don’t see it mentioned at http://www.hycyber.com/SF/norton_andre.html and I don’t recall the title.
