hmm, interesting…could imagine it helps by strengthening the muscles in the back of your throat, which might prevent them from slopping back to the further back of your throat, which leads to snoring.

Playing low freq instruments really does have physiological effects. For me, bari sax and bass clarinets cure tension headaches (but not migraines - different pathophysiology), and all high-air-volume instruments help my sleep. Then again, excercise of any kind helps my sleep.
On the minus side, playing contrabass clarinet at high volume gives me stomach cramps. Noriega-style cramps.
For the uninitiated, the BBb marching clarinet looks like Rube Goldberg’s version of the NYC sewer system, and its lowest note is roughly the frequency of snow in LA. The reed is the size off a door-shim. While I played it in a symphonic wind ensemble and in SonicLab, it seemed best suited to punk music, with contact mics, a Marshall stack, and safety-pins through dangly bits. Oh, the opportunities lost…
Who would have guessed, but I used to make digeridoos from pvc pipe. I made them in different keys, multiple piece instruments that could be broken down for easy carrying and storage, and instruments with obstructions in the bore at nodal points. Using off-the-shelf pvc fittings, it is also easy to make a variety of mouthpieces for different skill levels. None of the moulded beeswax mouthpieces for me. The inside of a dig gets really wet. With easily removable mouthpieces it is easy to wash them often to prevent mold and other stuff that you don’t want to know about. All of my digeridoos are also painted with weird designs.
