Anyone have a Rhiannon / Chris Dawson bamboo flute?
I tried to order one about a year ago, and it was difficult. I think I finally have one coming within a month or so.

I don’t have one, but I have been considering an F bamboo for a while now, I think that’s a pretty good key for the bamboos that I’ve heard. (How my heart jumped when I saw Blackbeer was selling his Olwell… How my heart sank when I found out it was gone 
)
Anyway, Rhiannon is acknowleded on Mike McGoldrick’s “Morning Rory” album which is a pretty good endorsement.
What problems did you have in ordering and how were they resolved? And most importantly, what did you order and how much did it cost?

I’ve got a Rhiannon G flute and have tried an F one. They’re excellent, very similar to Olwell bamboos in terms of being nicely in tune and able to hold a strong tone.
Um . . . let’s see. I think the problem was that I was dealing with a Breton music store, and they kept thinking that they were getting more low D bamboos, but didn’t. I hadn’t tried contacting Chris Dawson himself.
I did contact Chris, though, and he was really easy to deal with. He said he had an unfinished low D that was not spoken for, and he’d put it aside for me. He said he’s having trouble making flutes now because of gig commitments, but that he thought he might finish it in February. The cost will be £100, I think.

Jean-Michel Veillon (aka Johnny Mickey) plays Rhiannon/Dawson flutes on a couple tracks on his album, Er Pasker. He plays bamboo flutes on E Koad Nizan too but it doesn’t say who made them. I don’t have any other of his CDs.
J’imagine qu’il vaut mieux de contacter M. Dawson lui même. Il doit parler anglais avec un nom comme Dawson.
