Reyburn High D

I read about this whistle on this board from the man himself…any more news?,I think I want one..

You’re correct Dave, I am just about ready to release the new high D and high C, I’m just waiting on some new tooling to be made to ensure consistent results in production.
Both will share the same head so can be purchased as a set. They will have a maple wood head with a Delrin plug (curved windway) and a brass body. The tone of these instruments is very sweet with a bit of breathiness and low breath requirements. Of course, they are tuneable with a brass tuning slide.
I also have a new prototype Low D in the works which is all brass (no wood) with a Delrin plug. This instrument sounds very different compared to my wooden head model, very pure in tone (dark and smokey). I have dedicated my mornings to working on the new whistles and my afternoons to filling orders, so it shouldn’t be long before they are ready to go.

What’s the volume like on the high whistles?

Thanks for the info.

Brett

A friend of mine played the high D in a session and it came across just fine. The bottom of the low end softens up a bit, but the new tool I’m waiting for will probably correct that.
