I just received my set of cpvc whistles and have had some time to compare them to my set of his brass bodied hi set…
They both use the same Delrin head and are both tuneable over a wide(useable) range. Spot on in tune across 2 full octaves. Both have no fingering quirks or excessive breath requirements..
Brass..Bright and bold sound. A tad bit chiffy,but pure..It is the louder of the two,but not in an ear splitting way.
CPVC..A bit breathy,pleasantly so. Again,pure tone,not chiffy..Sort of like a Dixon,without the overones and raspiness. More subtle than the brass. Blows easily up the to third D with no squeaking or squaking…
Both whistles have a bit of back pressure and are easy to control…
Does it seem like I like them…you bet I do…
Is it worth getting both sets…One is bright and bold(brass), the other pure and subtle(CPVC)…It’s like having two children…which is better…love them both..
