Just twiddling a bit again, working my way from memory through Donncha O Brien’s definitive version of the Golden Eagle hornpipe I was looking for more satisfactory ways to get High C.
So far I mostly used XOXXOX which long ago I got from John Skelton. There is a bit of an rough edge on the note when played this way so I looked for something better : XOOXXO seems to do it. Any comments or improvers??
Isn’t this pretty whistle-dependent? On my Water Weasel, OXX XXO seems to work best, but on the Burke wide-bore brass, OXO XXX works for me. I’ve found that XOX XOX for me only works for whistles on which the OXX XXO fingering is required in the lower octave.

I suppose it is whistle dependent, one of the reasons I asked. I use generation types, works on them and suasto seems to do it to although I don’t fancy going that high on a susato without the earmuffs.
Neither of the two you mention seem to work on the whistles I have
