Retrofitted Gen Bb Clip - Opinions Wanted (Updated W/ Pics)

Gary,

Enjoyed the clip. Please let me know when they are ready. I am always having trouble with my Gen Bb so this is definitely the solution for me.

Cheers,

Dave.

Great clip Gary. I have been wanting a Bb whistle but have not gotten one yet.

Anyone have a Bb tube they want to get rid of?

I still like “Whore”. Dammit.

Sigh

One day… one day…

The sound clip was beautiful. And the pictures - WOW! Having a preference for all-plastic construction, I can only plead that you don’t make us wait too long for the models with PVC tubes.

Congratulations, great job!

Tom

BTW: have you ever thought of trying the “red stuff” that Glenn Schultz uses for his fipples? That red against the dark PVC you are using would be striking.

I’m loving it and an dying for a chance to buy one if they are reasonable. I have an Overton Bb and never play it. I want a Burke but can’t afford one right now.

so be brushing up on your Dubliners trivia! (the band, not the book).

Damn–I’d do better with the book.

A very lovely tone, nicely balanced between octaves, traditional with a bit of pop and fullness to it. I like it.

Regards,

Philo

[quote=“raindog1970”]Tony Higgins has posted a clip of me playing <A I think my current retrofit head design does a very good job of turning a cheapie tube into a professional quality instrument, while still retaining much of the traditional sound.
In my mind, the name ‘Retro-Pro’ seems to be a good choice for my new retrofit heads… ]

Just call it the original design Susato used before they went to the fruity, recorder-sounding models out today. That head is almost a dead ringer for the original curved-fipple style used on my own favorite whistle, about a 1980 brown pvc Susato one-piece high D. (They only came in untunable, and these are totally untunable, as the head is permanently attached to the body tube.)

Royce

It all depends on how well the retrofit heads do… I may or may not have the time to develop anything else for a while.
Regarding Glenn’s “red stuff” - he salvages that and the other material he uses for fipple plugs from the scrap bins at GM… I’ll have to stick to using black or white Delrin.

Now there’s an accusation I never thought I’d see directed at me… thanks for a good laugh, Royce!
Seriously, accuse me of making whistles that look like Sindts, and I really can’t deny that they are quite similar… but Susato?
