Restrictions On Childhood Imagination?

Yes, of course this is a joke (it’s from the Onion) but it made me laugh out loud :wink:

This part really got me going:

I have to admit, I think it would be really fun to label all those sticks

:laughing:

It may be a joke today but eventually…

An interesting term I heard recently that is being used by educators is “Nature Deficit Disorder” (NDD), referring to how much young kids are learning everything from a screen, whether it be tv, computer or game console. They decry the total lack of most kids’ exposure to a hands-on learning of the world around them, leading to a total lack of interest in many of the natural sciences by today’s kids.

djm

mmm Hmm…
sure seems that way in the Ed Lab;
but when ya have to scrape the mud, crud and macaroni off of 'em day after day;…
I’d say they’re pretty much in touch with nature. They just have a differnt perspective of it…

nonononono…put that DOWN, Junior… :open_mouth:

I would love to work to cure nature deficit disorder. However I don’t like children. I suppose soon there will be a need to cure nature deficit disorder in adults. Maybe I’ll be able to do it after all.

If some government bureaucrat reads it, it will be on the curricula tomorrow. Then Algore will claim to have invented it. Then Hilary will claim she ran from it in Bosnia, and Osama will claim he was not there when it happened, but he still stands behind the one who did it.

Hehe, I read the title and thought maybe Felicity and Victoria had ganged up against you!

LOL! I’m lucky thus far that they haven’t discovered that there is really MORE of them than me. If they do figure that out, I’m really in trouble :wink:
