Renditions of The Flower of Magherally

The only rendition of The Flower of Magherally that I have had the good fortune to hear is the fine one in L.E. McCullough’s “Complete Irish Tinwhistle Tunebook.” I would be interested in accessing additional renditions of it, especially one with vocals. Mack Hoover has sent me the lyrics (thanks Mack!) and it is my understanding that Cathal McConnell does a memorable rendition of it, but I do not know on which album. In any event, I would appreciate it if any of the C & F stalwarts could point me in the general direction of one or two additional takes on this wonderful piece.

Thanks.

Tom D.

I know I’ve got it on an album here somewhere.. I’ll see if I can locate it.

by Cara Dillon, on the first recording by the group “Oige”.

The late great Frank Harte does a lovely version which can be located in your E mail box right now

Slan,
D.

I’m pretty sure the one I’m thinking of is one or the other of the Boys of The Lough recordings. I can hear the title phrase in my head even now.

Thanks Folks!!

I appreciate the good leads and the other input you have provided. I am reminded that this tune, like many things in life, may be simple but not therefore necessarily easy to do well.

Be Well,

TomD.

Anuna do a version also - probably a little more laid back than everyone else but very listenable.
