I was approached today by an elderly lady who had a flute that she wishes to sell.
It was made by a man called Edward Reilly about 1825. It is stamped
E. RILEY / 29 CHATHAM ST / N-YORK adn is made from Boxwood.
It is quite like the flute seen here,
http://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/map_item.pl?data=/home/www/data/service/music/dcmflute/0300/0377f1.sid&title=DCM+0377:+++Edward+Riley,+senior+/+Flute+in+C&style=dcmflute&itemLink=r?ammem/dcm:@field(NUMBER+@band(0377%20dcmflute))
So this lady wants to sell this flute and I thought I’d ask for some advice here for her.
Any ideas on how to proceed. Some one else suggested ebay to her, but there has been a lot of bad press about people abusing ebay customers with scams, etc.
Feel free to pm me for any more info or if you have any suggestions.
Thanks,
Tommy
