reedmaking match

It is time to find out who the best of the best is . Lets have a reed off for fun . the owner of the chanter gets to be the judge . The chanter is to be sight unseen , the pitch is in d and the time allotted is three weeks . the owner of a good working reed pays the winner a standard fee . Or , gratis . Seems like fun to me . . Good clean fun on line .

Who gets to be the lucky %$&&*!! who pays the standard fee to the winning reedmaker and keeps all the “losers”? Sign me up.

If , and that is a big if , . lol
the chanter holder sees it meet to compensate the reedmaker , then they pay . The required amount , and then , at some point , they have to play the bucks of oran more , or similar , lol , or it is all for naught . Have we a game ?? LOL , lemon , you mean to say the lucky bastar dot , dot . ? lol. The winner will choose to have payment or will let it go as a for gone conclusion , and see they are the best , I see pints all around in any case .
tom (_) . .

Gentlemen,
While I would love to have your wonderful reeds for myself, I submit quite possibly the greatest challenge to your skills: Brian Lee of Utah
I too have a Daye chanter but my reed seems to function well without many of the problems faced by Brian. Most of you can obtain a Daye chanter from someone nearby, and as they are “uniform”, the resulting reeds should be interchangable. That might prevent a long argument over what chanter is or is not suitable for the contest. This would also settle a question I’m sure has bothered Brian as to whether it’s the chanter, the reed built by David Daye, or is it time to give up on a piping career.
If you really want to be the Harry Potters of this group, get a hobgoblin, Pakistani, or that plastic thingy chanter and compete to reed that. That surely would prove worthy
of the title “King of the reed makers”.
Marc

Each chanter is different . Every piece of cane is uniuque . So who cares If we have a reed off ? Who knows , it might lead to someday having the pipemakers do the same . Ya never know .
tom . p.s. I like that title , king of the reedmakers , lol . Up for grabs , . . lol.

What’s the judging criteria?

The player needs to be happy with the reed . Of course , aside from all the other aspects , tone , playability , durability ect , ect , keeping in mind the reasonable person principle , lol . A plus would be that people hearing it would be happy as well .
