Sometimes my reed lips get a “smile”. WHen I try to open them or close them, only one side will move and it gets distorted more.
Am I scraping too much on the upper reed side or is it my bridle is pressing too much on one side?

This could be caused by uneven bridle pressure. But I think it’s at least as likely that it’s due to either an unevenly shaped eye/flat section on the staple, or unevenness in the way the blades are initally gouged - perhaps one blade thicker than the other, or asymettrically shaped blades.
