Reed Making Question for a B Flat Set

So about 5 years ago I bought a bunch of reed making stuff from Seth Gallagher. I got some tubes of cane and ordered a gouge and have a bunch of sanding cylinders. I made a bunch of slips and have yet to ever really make a reed that seems to work. in D, but now I am wondering something different. my D pipes play great and don’t need any reed help, but my B Flat pipes could use a more responsive chanter reed. (something a little brighter and lighter than the one in there) so I’m wondering if I could make a B reed from the tubes of cane I have on hand for D reeds? or if not, where should I order some tubes at a reasonable price?

Thanks

Dr. Eric

I’ve managed to make C reeds with cane normally used for D chanters (22 mm +) but most reedmakers will tell you to use smaller diameter cane for flat reeds.

As cane tubes are never perfectly round, you could try cutting a slip from the part of the tube which has a more pronounced curve.
