Once your done playing the pipes, do you keep your reed secured in your reed cap or should you remove it?

Can you think of a reason why you would remove the reed after playing each time?
I only remove the reed cap to adjust the reed.
The less the reed has to leave the chanter, or the chanter cap has to be removed, the better. The reed gets to stay put and enjoy its isolation… unless it needs to be tuned or something unusual like that.
