Recycle & Make Whistle Stand

I am always looking for ways to recycle perfectly good items that I no longer have a need for in their present state.

So, I was cleaning out a cupboard and came across an old pipe holder. The kind made of a beautiful maple and holds 12 pipes! Well, no one around here smokes a pipe anymore, but I just hated to throw it out. I got my imagination to working and Presto! My new whistle holder! It looks and works great. Since not all whistles are the same size around you may have to drill the top hole a little bigger, but hey, 5 mins. work and look what you’ve got!

I have also taken one of those wooden bananna holders and cut the top at a slant and drilled a half curve something like this… ( in the slanted part, then made a notch in the bottom to keep my whistle from sliding off. I keep my favorite whistle there on display on the kitchen table. Now I can have my morning coffee and practice too! :laughing:

I have a pipe holder, no pipes though. After reading your post, I may convert mine to a whistle holder too. Great idea.

Just tried it. Unfortunately, my pipe holder has large slots, so the smaller diameter whistles slide out too easily.

Bill,
You might try going to a craft store and getting some little wooden button plugs to put at the end to stop from sliding. They look like little drawer pulls. Or you might see something else that would work.
