My session allows recording the music. Am I able to mp3 it and put it up as a resource for others or is that frowned upon?
I personaly feel recording a session is an intrusion on my privacy. On the odd occasion where the session I attend was recorded, permission was never asked as far as I am aware,of anyone. If I knew in advance that the session would be recorded I,d stay at home. Peace, mike
ALWAYS ask and ALWAYS respect even the smallest reluctance. I like to tape sessions composed of people I hope to play with later, but it is totally for my own use in learning the group’s tunes. If Mike were to be in a group I came to, I would not tape because it would be disrespectful.
Cheers, Nancy
Recording for sessions for personal use is prbably the most wide used way of learning new tunes. It is suitable to ask permission but on the other hand, people playing in public places shouldn’t be too fussy about the odd recording. I woul;dn’t put it out on a public medium liek the Internet (why would you, it’s jsut another session) but for your own use, go for it.
