Recommend a PC recording mic?

I just bought myself a new Dell lappy, running Windows 7, and it has a built-in webcam.
I’ve started doing some video/audio recording using said webcam, but the audio quality is crap due to using the onboard mics. Lots of crackle and pop.
Can someone recommend a decent, reasonably priced PC recording mic (under $100)? I’d like to be able to just “set it and forget it”. Should have good frequency response, since I’ll be using it to pic up vocal/guitar stuff, as well as loud (to louder to loudest) stuff on flute/whistle/fife.

Also, can anyone who’s done any webcam recording recommend something to use to re-sync the audio and video? I’ve posted a couple of videos on youtube of me playing guitar and singing, and the audio is ever-so-slightly behind the video. I know it is not a compression issue inflicted by youtube, because I have the same prob with the saved video on my computer. Do I need to use a commercial software product to achieve this, or is there possible something I can do in the settings to sync at record time?

TIA!

It’s not under $100, but you can get a scatch and dent Zoom H2 for not much more than that ($129 at 8th Street Music last fall). In addition to being a really great pocket sized flash recorder, you can use it as a USB mic.

Any of the Blue Microphone USB mics are serviceable.

They are $50 - $100

There are many audio sync articles on videohelp.com
most using freeware programs. Here’s one such:
