Recent Strange Mood

I’ve had an ongoing strange mood, and this is one of the results; http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Kitsune

Ok, just what exactly is IN that smoke from the fire around Lewiston???

My niece has a Shiba Inu dog named Rontu, which translates into “Fox Eyes”

Well, that article is a little long to read at this hour so I’m not sure I really get it. All I know is that you should probably be careful about expressing your anthropomorphic foxiness too openly. The point they made about Homeland Security was a good one.
If you find yourself doing something like this to ladies,
rein yourself in some.

I’ve got a Chinese Comic Book about “Hong Jiu, the Fox Fairy”. It’s beautifully painted, in the traditional Chinese Style. The only fault is the buffalo’s horns on the last page. The artist had clearly never seen a buffalo, or even a picture of one. But a lovely story, all the same.

Chinese Fox Myths

I have a blog of sorts, but it’s a Beta version-- there’s only one person reading it at this point. Here’s a quote.

Last night while strolling around the yard with Vera [our dog] before bed, she became very perky and excited, sniffing everywhere. Then I heard a strange cry from nearby in the woods. It was a horrible sound, like something being tortured and killed, but it repeated over and over at the same intensity.

here it is

sorry, looks like a dead link

here’s the page that’s a summary of sounds

http://www.angelfire.com/ar2/thefoxden/sounds.html
this one was working as of Friday afternoon’
the sound I heard was the territory call.

Gee Rod, some of that article sounded like it was written in the first person???

Just the other day my son and I were in a discussion about are there any hermaphroditic deities, legends or similar beings. Thanks for the lead.

edited to make note of Cynth’s comment, thankyou!

I couldn’t finish it. The spelling and grammar errors on top of the apparent attempt at being clever just made it too gruelling for me to complete. I hope there was a point buried in there somewhere. Too bad it couldn’t have been humourous.

djm

I haven’t the time to read the whole thing either, but I do enjoy the bits for ADD people, such as “what are you looking at round pupil?”

How could you think about spelling and grammar in the midst of all that vulpine erotic content??? whew!! :astonished:

I think I’ll print it out and read it aloud to my husband later this evening.
No, wait, tonight’s Harry Potter. Vulpine husband will have to wait.

Coffee a little weak this mornin’?

All I get when I go there is:

Aim, shoot and clear pegs in 55 levels of bouncy fun!

I decided to turn back before I learned more than I wanted to  .

Thinking more about strange fox creatures, there are thingys called “Foxen” in Sherri Tepper’s sci fi novel “Grass”. They are mischievous and yet cosmic.

Sherri Tepper is very good…some of her aliens are just as randy and “omnivorous” (ahem) as Rod’s fox entities. She also has recurring themes of feminism and religious tolerance. Her alternate worlds are very well thought out and are fascinating to visit.

OK Rod, back to you…

Actually, it’s my persona Verp Tlethl http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/User:Verp_Tlethl who has fallen in with kitsune. The thought of a large, bear like technologically advanced alien trying to be a small, lithe magical creature is a part of the humor. The one person who commented positively via Uncyclopidia understands the kitsune in-jokes. I thought the in-jokes would be easily extrapolated out of the somewhat skewed version of the retelling of the myth in the context of the article. There are also a lot of Uncyclopidia in-jokes, too. I can always try to edit it to make more sense to the uninitiated.

I don’t think you should change your article! I have to admit I have not heard of kitsune before, I just went a read a little about it right now----but why would you change your article so someone who was ignorant would understand it? Then it would not be fun at all. And then why would you take out the other jokes? It would end up being dull. I do think it is funny to think of a “large, bear like technologically advanced alien trying to be a small, lithe magical creature”—I could even relate to that a bit, belonging to the un-small and un-lithe of our species. It is impossible to make humor that appeals to everyone, in my opinion only.

Oh yeah. Been there

I found it interesting, in spite of spelling errors and the like. My daughter is very much into the furred anthro type of roleplay, and I sent it to her.

Indeed. I love her stuff.

The Gate to Women’s Country is one of my all-time favorites.

The Mavin series
Shadow’s End
Plague of Angels

all excellent reads.
