A quick update on the recent board outages (and a heads-up on upcoming ones):

Sometime on May 7th the server on which the forum’s database resides encountered hardware problems and had to be replaced. The Dreamhost folks took care of that and had us up and going before I found out that things were down, so that issue is taken care of now.

Then on the morning of May 8th the forum’s database was stopped because of concerns about the level of resources the forum uses. Dreamhost apologized for shutting things down with no notice, so we’re back and running again, but that doesn’t mean that the problem is solved yet.

Anyhow, I’m in touch with the Dreamhost folks to figure out what needs addressing, so I don’t expect much more unannounced downtime, but there might be short periods of unavailability for the next while while things get straightened out.
