In past threads, I have read that the Copeland Low G is a spectacular sounding whistle. It seems that they almost always refer to a slightly older whistle though. (5+ yrs) Though never as a requirement of being good, as if they have changed the recipe for building them and newer models aren’t as great.
Does anyone have any experience with recent Copeland Low G’s that can confirm they are still as earthshatteringly awesome as they have been acclaimed in past models?
I have a Copeland low G that I got about mid 2004. Earthshattering? Nope. Very good tone, and unique…yes. Intonation–really squirrley and I had to return it to get it that good. Not an easy whistle to play well. I’d say that the sound is so different that it might be wise to hear one before you buy it. I bet some people love 'em and some really don’t. I’m really fond of mine, but end up playing my other whistles much more.
Both. The second octave was awfully sharp to the first octave, and certain notes within the octave were not good either. Michael worked on it and it’s much better. Now it can be blown into tune, but I really prefer a whistle that PLAYS in tune to start with.
