Reaming flute bores from a different perspective

Here is what reaming a flute bore looks like from the perspective of a GoPro Hero 3 camera mounted on the lathe chuck (it was held on by duct tape). In this video the reamer appears to stand still while the room and the flute maker (that would be me) spin around and around.

Cheaper than Jägermeister. :boggle:

THAT’S TWISTED!
:smiling_imp:

I am sure the folks at GoPro are, as I write this, working on a modified lathe dog to mount their little hero to lathes big and small.

Why won’t the room stop spinning?

And tastier, too!

That’s weird… Cool!

:open_mouth: so that’s how flutes are made…

Awesome! I bet I can forge one of those for my friend who does woodturning. That’d be a slick project!

Personally, I found it boring.

Here is another dizzying video, though maybe not as exciting as the first. This is going from square to round, the first step in rendering a flute part from a piece of wood. Usually I do this at a faster speed but ran this slower so that the camera wouldn’t fly off the headstock chuck.
