Came across this rare CD on eBay from 1997 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/361517128241?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT. Bit of a gamble, bought for a Davy Spillane low whistle solo, but it’s a total delight with appearances by the likes of Martin O’Connor, Sean Smyth (track 1 on a Low F) and Tommy Keane on pipes.
A good find Mike. I posted it at “thesession.org” 10 years ago. You should in all fairness point out that all of the tunes were composed by Galway artist Joe Boske. One or two have been recorded by other musicians. I always did mean to post some of the tunes, but never seemed to get round to it. And I never did hear anything more about the proposed 2nd album of his tunes.
PS - just noticed that there’s an eBay seller in Dublin with 3 of them for sale, very reasonable price, I’d say. Recommended.
Thanks for the Session link, Kenny. I never actually went looking for it there. You have the date wrong though. It was recorded 1997, not 1977. I bought my copy from the same eBay seller. He sold a single copy on auction a day before first posting the fixed price copies.
