Ah. I wonder what became of Ralph. I remember how excited I was when I got Low D #3. So many other good Low Ds have been developed since that these sort of got washed out.
I too was just wondering. He made a nice instrument. I sold mine because it wasn’t quite loud enough or as responsive/expressive as some others (Overton, Copeland). Am I misremembering or were they wood and about $75? The fipple was visibly pinned into the headjoint…they were all black…plastic or wood?..or resin?
Regards,
PhilO
The material is PVC with a black lacquer finish on it. The fipple plug is hardwood, and the plug at the end of the flute headjoint is also hardwood. And, yes, the fipple plug is pinned to the PVC with a brass screw on each side of the fipple. The pouches are genuine, vintage, and certified green corduroy with ties made of the same material.
