So, I am working on another one by ear, which is the chorus for Rain Street by the Pogues. I always loved this little diddy because when listening to the song its the part I always found myself humming. Anyway, Since I will have to play that part for this song I need to know it and I sat down tonight and listened to it to try to figure it out. Now Since I am usually horrible at this by ear, I figured the Guru was gonna have to come on here and straighten me out again like with whistles the wind. However he said to keep at it so here I am.
Notated like ABC or as close as I understand it.

*Lets hope I am in the right ballpark this time. Guru ???
I am pretty much a novice at this ABC stuff, but can I make a suggestion?
Download ABCExplorer (its free, open source and reasonably good). Then you can get the software to play your ABC and you can compare what you hear with what you want. I thought when I started that I wouldnt be able to get anywhere, but I am improving at a reasonable rate, and learning about music notation on the way. Its got to be faster than checking each iteration on the forum.
The midi player can also be used to practice to - helps me with my timing/rythm.
You can also add in grace notes and hear the effect.
Another great piece of free/open source software is audacity - you can record some music, and play it back through audacity; you can also slow it down without changeing the pitch - helps when trying to get the fast pieces.
(NOTE: I have no involvement with either software project except as a grateful user. There are other peices of software available to achieve the same ends. Some here use an online program, whose name elludes me, but I am sure a helpful soul will post it here).
I will give that a try I need to find a abc Software package for MAC. I guess Why I am asking is that It is my Ear I am trying to test. So Unless I verify with someone else with a mature ear, then I could still be way off If I use ABC Software or not and never know cause it sounds right to me. For the Rain Street piece I feel I am almost 100% positive the first four notes are correct. The rest of it I think Sounds like it but not exact.

Ok So I see everyone’s point that putting stuff into ABC is not that difficult, however I know this is way off from proper documentation for this, but I tested it and it works.
